In a very closely contested Div. II camogie final Kilkishen/Mills emerged 1 point victors against Quin N.S. at Cusack Park on Tuesday evening. At the final whistle there was jubilant scenes as the Kilkishen girls held on for victory. Congratulations to all involved and particularly to the club mentors and parents who have developed the girls skills and love for the game over the years. The future looks bright for Kilkishen camogie and hopefully this will inspire more success in the future.
The boys and girls of 1st and 2nd class have football fever. With the start of the European championships upon us the class decided that they would like to mark the occasion. Each student was designated a country, they had to research some facts on that country and design the country's flag. The boys and girls are still loyal to the boys in green but it is a fun way to learn about the participating countries.
Congratulations to the girls of Kilkishen and O'Callaghan's Mills on qualifying for the Div. II final today defeating Newmarket N.S. There were fantastic performances all over the pitch and the whole school are very proud of the girls achievements so far. The girls will play Quin N.S. in the final next week at Cusack Park. It's sure to be a close game with very little to choose between the sides.
On Thursday 2nd June the children from 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th Class went to Galway on their school tour. The sun was shining and it was a fantastic day. First they went for a cruise on the Corrib on the Corrib Princess. This was followed by a visit to Leisureland in Salthill, where the children had great fun swimming and going down the big slide. Next they went to the Aquarium and got to hold starfish and crabs and a lucky, brave few held a lobster! We finished up with a Supermacs feast on the prom. It was a wonderful day. Check out pictures from the day below. The boys and girls had their school tour yesterday. To say they had a great day would be an understatement. The children visited the fire station followed by a trip to the museum and last but not least they ventured to Entertainment Planet. Well done to the Kilkishen U/11 girls that won silver medals at the weekend. They had a great win over Clarecastle in the semi final and were runners up against Eire Og in the final. The senior camogie team has a very bright future!
Well done to last weeks winners of "Pupil of the Week" from Ms. Maxstead's, Mr. Walsh's and Ms. Fawl's classes. A number of pupils received their 15th principal's stamp on their reward charts and they received a medal for outstanding effort . Keep up the great effort everyone.
Kilkishen and Kilmurry primary schools played a camogie and hurling exhibition game at Kilkishen school. The main aim of the matches was participation, giving all pupils an opportunity to play. Both games were well contested and great skill from both sides was witnessed. Clare hurler Shane O'Donnell attended and presented medals to the winners and runners up in both games. In addition there was a "Player of the Match" awarded to each school. Thank you to all that attended and helped create a special atmosphere. |
