The children of 1st and 2nd learned about the famous artist Vincent Van Gogh. They had great fun learning about his life and his numerous famous paintings. They drew their own versions of his famous painting 'Bedroom in Arles'
The children had great fun making pictures with 2-d shapes. They are looking forward to learning about 3-d shapes next term. Third and Fourth Class would like to warmly welcome Miss O'Donnell into our classroom. Miss O'Donnell is a student teacher of Mary Immaculate College in her final year. She will be teaching the class for four weeks in total, which will consist of the next three weeks leading up to midterm and one week after the midterm break. The children are looking forward to all the fun lessons she has planned and to learning lots of new things. Measures: Time The History of Toys Show and Tell has been an ever present in the 1st and 2nd classroom. I find that the children gain invaluable confidence when standing in front of their peers with their prized possessions. This confidence will stand to the children in later life especially in academic presentations and debating. Óisin brought in his army attire to tell the class of his love for all things military.
The boys and girls have been enjoying running training with Martina and Richard the past few weeks. The children have loved taking part in fun and well prepared circuits and the difference in fitness is obvious. The children love to be active and I find that their concentration in class is impeccable after their exercise.
5th and 6th class were out and about exploring measures last week. In groups pupils estimated and recorded items that were less than and greater than 1 metre. Pupils recorded their measures and presented their findings to the class. Seniors and First Class Children are aware of the rules of crossing the road and made posters to make the whole school aware of Road Safety Week 2016.
