The girls' Gaelic Football team represented themselves superbly in the semi-final against Kilnaboy N.S. in Lees Road today despite the wet conditions. Captain Ciara did well between the posts, Julie put in a solid performance sweeping up full back and alongside her Lily and Rachel fought hard to defend incoming ball. Azara and Emily worked hard in midfield supporting each other while Clara, Lola and Paula and Keelin worked together to earn scores for the team. On the remaining panel are Kara, Ella, Zara and Emma who have been football enthusiasts and are upcoming candidates for next year's starting team.
A huge team effort was made in order for Kilkishen to dominate most of the second half being three points up at one stage. Team play was highly evident and the girls grew in confidence as the game progressed. Goals scored by Lola and by Lily helped to keep spirits up. Even though the girls battled well, Kilnaboy recovered by scoring a goal to get themselves back into the game. Unfortunately, with five minutes left on the clock, we conceded another point to end our hopes of securing our spot in the final. The final score being 2-3 to 3-4. The Kilkishen girls tried hard, contested the ball with passion and pride and can hold their heads high after this great display and super achievement of competing closely in the semi-final. There are high hopes for Kilkishen's Gaelic Football future! Well done to all the girls and boys in Kilkishen N.S. who participated in training and encouraged each other throughout the Gaelic Football season. Comments are closed.
