One Good Idea Grand National FinalThe Water Squad traveled to Croke Park last Tuesday 16th May, to take part in The One Good Idea Grand National Final. Kilkishen National School were represented by Keelin Moroney, Finn Bliss, Clara Madden, Julie Murphy, Mikey Canny and Óisín Cleary and what a job they did! They amazed the judges and the crowd with their perfectly delivered presentation pitch and their catchy rap. It was a fun-filled day from start to finish. On arrival we were provided with a delicious breakfast and we set up our Display Board in the exhibition area. The Water Squad members than rehearsed their pitch and waited with anticipation to be called into the Event Hall. Each of the six primary schools then delivered their 4 minute presentation pitch and answered questions from the judges for a further 2 minutes. The standard of all the finalists was wonderful and while the judges deliberated the crowd were treated to a magic show and were taught some cool new dance moves! Mikey Canny was even selected out of the crowd to receive a spot prize for his groovy moves! Once the judges had announced the winners, St. Patrick's NS from Co. Limerick, we were then given a fabulous lunch and mouth-watering dessert. Congratulations to the Saighdiuirí Uisce from our neighbouring county, who were very deserving winners. And congratualtions again to the Water Squad who really were just as impressive as the overall winning team. To be chosen out of hundreds of entries to firstly make it into the top 20 and then to make it through to the top 6 primary schools in all of Ireland is a remarkable achievement. For being finalists in the competition, The Water Squad were awarded with an SEAI One Good Idea plaque and they also won €250 for the school!! Check out this week's Clare People to read their article commending the Water Squad and all their hard work. To quote the article Kilkishen National School's involvement and success in this programme shows that we 'have some of the brightest and most creative minds in the country.' Comments are closed.
