A big well done to all of the new Junior Infants who started school today. Welcome back to our Senior Infants. We had a great first day at school and are ready for a super year ahead!
Clare Colours Day
Junior and Senior Infants were all kitted out in their Clare colours today in preparation for the Munster Final on Sunday. Up the Banner!
Junior and Senior Infants Trip to Ennis Fire Station
Last week, Junior and Senior Infants got the opportunity to visit Ennis Fire Station. The children really enjoyed themselves and were so thankful to all the Firefighters who showed them around. Each child got the chance to try on the safety helmet, sit into the Fire Engine and even spray the hose! After the special visit, the children had a picnic in the park and even got to visit the playground.
The children were learning the autumn leaves rhyme and painted autumn coloured leaves on our classroom windows!

Junior Infants were learning about ‘Rhyme Time’ and the children completed puzzles in groups working together to match rhyming words by looking at the pictures.

Science - experiment exploring sound
The children listened to the story of The Rainbow Fish by Marc Pfister and responded to the story by writing a book review, free writing words from the story using flash cards and by participating in play dough activities. The children also responded to the story through art work by adding their very own scales to their own Rainbow Fish using Fabric and Fibre materials.

Juniors & Seniors reached their target of 12 leaves on their class achievement tree! As a reward, the children enjoyed ‘Golden Time’ playing board games with one another. We even got the opportunity to play them out in the glorious sunshine! 😎☀️
World Maths Day 23rd March 2022
Juniors and Seniors enjoyed participating in Maths Stations and a Maths Trail for World Maths Day. They loved playing maths games and completing their Planet Maths Activities outside in the sunshine! Juniors explored the concepts of full, nearly full, half full, half empty, nearly empty and empty using water, a jug and a jar.

All about Snails
The class were learning facts about the snail. They did report writing and drawing in response to watching a video about the snail. They also participated in a cutting and pasting activity labelling parts of the snail and created their own snails using buttons and chalk pastels. Take a look!

SESE, Maths & ENGLISH: Juniors & seniors had a vote to see which flavoured jelly was the most popular amongst the class. We recorded the results on the Interactive Whiteboard in the form of a bar chart; orange flavour proved to be the most popular followed by strawberry and then raspberry. The children learned the step-by-step procedure of making jelly. The highlight was eating it! For some, it was the first time tasting jelly! Yum!
SESE, English & Art: the children were engrossed in the reading of Eric Carle’s Book The Hungry Caterpillar’.

We're going on a Bear Hunt
First, the children listened to the story 'We're going on a Bear Hunt' by Michael Rosen.
Next, the children sequenced the story using pictures.

Sneezy the Snowman by Maureen Wright
The children responded to the story 'Sneezy the Snowman' by writing the reason why their own snowman melted! They created their 'melted snowman' during art class. Have a look and see!

The class were getting into the festive spirit by decorating our class Christmas Tree and making Christmas decorations! The children made handmade Christmas cards, Clay Christmas tree decorations and had fun with the ‘Elf Yourself’ Challenge! The children were exposed to the stories ‘Owl Babies’ by Martin Waddell and ‘The Gingerbread Man’ and created art in response to these stories. Take a look at our creative work!

For the SESE Investigation Station, the children explored Old and New Toys and sorted toys into the 'Old' & 'New' categories. For the Junk Art station, the children decorated gift wrapping paper which they will use to wrap their Clay Christmas Tree decoration that they had made during art class.

'There's no-one quite like me!'
For SPHE, the children explored how they are all unique! The children discussed how their name is special and decorated their names with dot stickers! They discussed each others similarities and differences and learned how to draw a self-portrait! Each child then completed a project called 'There's no-one quite like me! which is displayed on the walls of the school corridor.

June Adventures in Infants!
The children in Junior and Senior Infants have been very busy during June. They have worked very hard on their reading and learned all about the value of money! The pleasant weather helped to make Cumann na mBunscol hurling/camogie week a great success. Sports day brought a lot of enjoyment and the ice cream surprise from the Parents Association was a highlight for all of the children.

The boys and girls in the infant room had great fun during Cumann na mBunscol week. They loved showing off all the skills that they have learned this year and having lots of fun with their friends.

May Magic in Infants!
The children in the infant room have been really busy over the past month. We learned all about the lifecycle of the butterfly, the Olympic Games and we are on the way to becoming excellent readers. A definite highlight over the past month has been the fun and informative 'Show and Tell' that we have each week. The children have shared their wonderful knowledge of some of their most treasured items.
March and April fun in the Infant Room
At the end of March we were really busy getting ready for Easter and we really loved wearing purple to support Epilepsy Ireland! During April, we learned all about 2D shapes and found lots of them in our school! Active schools week was amazing in the beautiful sunshine.
Happiness to be back in school!
There was a lot of happy faces as we returned to the classroom at the start of March! The children made up for lost time by having lots of fun with all of their friends.
A flavour of the fun in November and December 2020
Junior and Senior were busy during November and December. They learned all about the season of Winter and were very busy preparing for 'Our First Nativity'. There was great energy and festive cheer as we all prepared for Christmas. The arrival of our Elf called Snowball brought lots of laughter and happiness!

Junior and Senior infants settled in really well into school and they have had lots of fun in September and October. They really enjoyed the excitement of the success of the Mills hurling teams. Halloween brought lots of learning opportunities and the children loved getting dressed up.

The Junior Infants have had a wonderful week learning all about ‘The Farm’ through Aistear. They have been exploring the different Aistear stations in little groups & have thoroughly enjoyed this month’s theme of ‘The Farm’!!

The Junior & Senior Infants had great fun before the mid-term break, dressing up in their Halloween costumes for the last day of school. We were amazed by the effort & imagination shown. We had a fun game of Halloween Musical chairs..... Well done boys & girls!!! (and Mums & Dads!!!!) 👻 🎃

Hot chocolate fun for the Infants....
The Junior Infants had a lovely morning recently making & enjoying some delicious hot chocolate & cookies. We had hot chocolate, marshmallows, chocolate flakes & some tasty cookies to warm us up on a cold September morning. Great fun!
