Rian McNamara met current "Hurler of the Year" Cian Lynch of Limerick at the recent Munster Hurling League final at Cusack Park Ennis. Limerick were comfortable winners on the day but we are all looking forward to the year ahead. Well done to Rian who has a bright future on the hurling field ahead.
The pupils of 2nd and 3rd class completed their renewable energy projects this week. The children made windmills after learning about the potential that is involved in wind energy. We incorporated a lesson on how flour is made.
The children enjoyed another lesson on city planning today from Mark O'Malley an employee of Zimmer Biotech in Shannon. Mark asked the children to design and analyse where best in their city to set up a new Restaurant. The children loved the lesson and decided that an Italian Restaurant would suit best. We look forward to our next exciting lesson on Friday.
The school received the positive news that Kilkishen N.S. is included in the €1.6 million summer works scheme for Clare schools. The school has been approved for an electrical upgrade throughout the school upgrading and improving our electrical system.

This week saw Meggie from 6th class pass the incredible total of 2 million words read this year using Accelerated Reader. We are delighted to celebrate this wonderful achievement with Meggie. New Year, New build in 2nd and 3rd class. The children enjoyed another interactive and proactive lesson with Mark O'Malley from Zimmer. Today we learned about architects and building design. We also learned about the importance of safety attire for builders. We as a class are looking forward to our next interactive session next week.

First and second class put on a fantastic display of hurling and camogie in the league over the past few weeks. We had two great finals with Clare winning the cup final and Limerick winning the shield. Certificates were presented to all players, and Players of the Tournament awards went to Saoirse Frost and Aidan McNamara. Well done to everyone who took part. |
