Best of luck to O'Callaghans Mills in the final on Sunday. 1st and 2nd Class loved dressing up in their club colours on Wednesday! Aaron Canny modeled a fabulous green and yellow jumper with pride which was knitted by his Granny and was handed down by his uncle. The boys and girls are in high spirits looking forward to another big sporting weekend and came up with a song to support and cheer on the Senior club hurling team on Sunday. It went a little something like this.... "Oh when the Mills, go marching in, Oh when the Mills go marching in, They're going to be the County Champions! Oh when the Mills go marching in!" COME ON THE MILLS!!!!! The boys and girls in 2nd and 3rd class learned how to write letters this week. They took this opportunity to write to the O'Callaghan's Mills Hurling Team to lend their support for the upcoming County Hurling Final.
On Wednesday and Friday this week pupils were invited to wear their club colours in preparation for Sunday's county final. A number of past pupils are involved and we wish them all the very best when they take on near neighbours Tulla. Good luck also the the Junior A team playing Kilmaley in the county final on Sunday. Come on the Mills! Kilkishen N.S. parents,John Cassidy and Mark Slattery, are running the Virtual Connemarathon in aid of Crumlin Children’s Hospital on Saturday 26th of September. This event is an ultra marathon covering a staggering distance of 39.3 miles or 62km around Kilkishen. The run is starting at 8am outside Crowe's shop looping the village 6 times. Supporters can run or cycle along with John and Mark on the day at approximately 8:50 minutes per mile (5:35 per km), and can join at any stage as they pass through the village. Each loop should take about 55 minutes.

The boys and girls of 3rd class received their First Holy Communion and Special Blessing on Saturday last at Kilkishen church. Thank you to everyone involved, especially Mr. Walsh, Edel McInerney and Fr. Donal Dwyer. Kevin Donovon has captured images from the special day for everyone to enjoy below. The new building extension at Kilkishen N.S. has opened. The extension consists of a new mainstream classroom, 3 x Special Education Teaching Rooms, new entrance, office, staff room and connecting corridor. The school Astro-Turf and Ball Wall facility has been completed with new tarmac area making use of both sides of the hurling wall. Great credit is due to East Clare Construction and Procad Engineering for delivering the project ready for the reopening of school. A formal opening of the new facilities is planned later this year when current restrictions have been lifted. Thank you to Kevin Donovon for capturing the new build with images below.
