On Monday 5th and 6th class were invited to a talk about Wetland along the Kilkishen Bog Walk. Thank you to former teacher Elizabeth Brady for organizing the talk and to chief speaker on the day Feidhlim Harty. The talk was very informative about plants, trees and wildlife that are found in our local wetlands. Pupils enjoyed the talk a great deal and learned a great deal about their locality. Have a look at some of the photos from the event below. Congratulations to all pupils that received a Gold Star last week for doing their best, showing respect and completing their homework. Stars of the Week were chosen at random from each class. Well done everyone and best of luck again this week! Pupils in Kilkishen N.S. have written their Santa letters and on Friday last these letters were collected and sent on their way to the North Pole. Our special delivery is expected to be with Santa this week. Have a look at some of the pupils sending their letters below. After our recent Halloween dress up day collection new indoor games have been purchased for wet days. Thank you to everyone that donated to our fund. If households are looking to find a new home for any children's games we will gladly accept any kind donations to add to our games for wet days. Have a look at some photos from 5th and 6th class enjoying their new games. Well Done to Kara and Riadh O'Flynn for once again donating their hair to the Rapunzel Foundation. A very worthy cause that makes wigs for sick children.

They carried out various experiments which examined the various forces of magnetism, gravity, friction and push and pull. The boys and girls in seniors and first wrote the names of whom have gone to Heaven and whom they wish to remember for the month of November on leaves and hung them on the Remembrance Tree.
Seniors and first are learning about time. The children played 'Cén t-am é a mhac tíre?' in the yard. They also raced each other around the school either running clockwise or anti-clockwise on teacher's call! The boys and girls also had fun making their very own clocks! Colin showed 3 o'clock or 'home-time' by moving the minute and hour hand on his home-made clock. Thanks to Ms. O Shea for helping us to make our clocks.
Pupils throughout the school have been receiving hurling and camogie coaching from G.A.A. coach John Condon for the past 5 weeks. Next Thursday will be the final session for 2017 and we would like to thank John for his caoching expertise and Ger Moroney and the O'Callaghan's Mills club for coordinating and supporting the training sessions. Well done to our u/8 girls cross country team that ran in the Clare Primary Schools finals on Wednesday last at Lee's Road in Ennis. Finn was one of two lucky scout members that were selected to meet the famous astronaut that is visiting Ireland for a number of events over the weekend. Finn posed for photographs with Chris and received a very special autograph which Finn shared with his class on Friday. This week the students of 2nd and 3rd learned all about the country India. It was wonderful to see the interest the children had in different cultures. We learned about the festival of Dilwali. We had a special visitor from Mrs. Fawl's room Martin to tell us all about the history and culture of India. I feel it is brilliant for my students to learn about different countries and hope this newly gained knowledge will inspire them to visit these countries in the future.
