Pupils from Junior Infants to 3rd classes performed their Christmas plays at Kilkishen G.A.A. Clubhouse on Wednesday December 20. Three wonderful production were enjoyed by all in attendance. Junior and Senior Infants performed The First Nativity to begin the concert, followed by 2nd and 3rd classes Ralf The Reindeer play. Finally, Senior Infants and 1st class performed Christmas With The Aliens to finish our school concert for 2023. All the junior boys and girls gave superb performances and did themselves, their school, and their families proud. Thank you to all our wonderful staff that directed and assisted with the school plays. Merry Christmas to everyone from all at Kilkishen N.S. Pupils from 4th to 6th classes performed two wonderful productions at Kilkishen G.A.A. Clubhouse on Tuesday December 19. Those in attendance were treated to two Christmas plays full of music, song, and drama. 4th and 5th class started the concert with their production of "Brian The Christmas Tree" followed by 5th and 6th classes musical "Cinderella and Rockerfella". Congratulations to both classes on two outstanding productions and a huge "Thank You" to Ms. Fawl, Ms. Whitney and all school staff that helped coordinate both plays. We certainly witnessed future musicals stars in the making! Well done to all involved. Kilkishen N.S. choir were privileged to perform at the annual senior citizens Christmas lunch which was held at Kilkishen Cultural Centre on Sunday December 17. Over 30 boys and girls were in attendance to help celebrate this community event and share in the Christmas spirit. It was a wonderful occasion where all generations came together to celebrate Christmas. The school choir that attended were treated to their own Christmas party with Ms. McNamara on Monday December 18 celebrating all the events they participated in this Christmas. Thank you to Ms. Amy McNamara for the fantastic work she has coordinated this Christmas with our school choir. On behalf of everyone at Kilkishen N.S., thank you to all involved in operating and organizing the senior citizens Christmas Lunch. Congratulations to our Pupil of the Week award winners. Each week pupils are asked to remember 3 important rules: 1. Show Respect 2. Do Your Best and 3. Complete Homework. In each classroom pupils that manage to demonstrate these on a daily basis are in the running for special weekly awards announced every Monday. Well done to all our award winners from Ms. Fawl, Ms. Whitney, Mr. Keane and Mr. Walsh's classes. Best of luck to everyone this week. The boys in Réaltaí Reatha had a great week last week as they travelled to Tulla to see 'Grease' the musical on Tuesday with 4th, 5th & 6th classes and on Wednesday they headed to see 'Aladdin and his Magic Lamp' in the Limetree Theatre in Limerick. They enjoyed two great shows. Take a look at some of the pictures from 'Aladdin' below. Congratulations to Darragh Donovan who was part of the Clare Primary School Handball team that were crowned Munster champions on December 10 at Nenagh Handball Club. Clare schools defeated Cork in the Munster final. Well done to Darragh on this wonderful achievement from everyone at Kilkishen N.S. Congratulations to our Pupil of the Week award winners. Over the past five weeks the boys and girls of Seniors and 1st Class have been lucky to take part in the Junior Achievement Programme - Inspiring Young Minds. Mark O'Malley visited our class each week and the children thoroughly enjoyed these fun sessions. Through this programme, Mark explored five different topics: 1. Our Families, 2. Our Families' Needs and Wants, 3. Great Job, 4. Businesses in Our Neighbourhood and 5. Our New Businesses. Special thanks to Mark and Zimmer for sharing this enjoyable programme with the children. Pupils from Kilkishen N.S. were invited to sing at the turning on of Kilkishen Christmas Lights on Wednesday December 7. A huge crowd were entertained by our school choir before Fr. Donal Dwyer gave a blessing and switched on the Christmas Lights. Thank you to all the boys and girls that attended and helped create a festive atmosphere at this special annual community event. Kilkishen N.S. choir were invited to perform for residents and staff at Carrigoran House on Friday December 8. Our junior and senior choirs performed beautifully and helped create a lovely Christmas atmosphere for all in attendance. A huge thank you to all the boys and girls and to Ms. McNamara for coordinating both choirs. Boys and girls presented residents with hand-made cards, many of whom have strong Kilkishen connections. Have a look at some of the highlights below. To honour Mary, on this her feast day the 8th of December, the children in 4th and 5th Class joined the celebration of mass in St. Joseph's Church in Ennis by webcam.
The children in 4th and 5th Class had fun playing some Math card games yesterday. They played 'Match to Make 11' and 'Race to 100' to practice their mental maths skills.
