Congratulations to the St. Joseph's Tulla U/15 hurling team that were crowned Munster U/15 champions. The Tulla team defeated Glanmire Community College by a single point at Kilmallock on Wednesday April 26. Well done to Kilkishen N.S. past pupils Eoin Shanahan, Luke Canny, Louie Donnellan and Ciarán Collins.
Kilkishen girls took part in the I.N.T.O. mini 7's camogie finals day held at Eire Óg on Monday April 24. Six schools had qualified after phase one and Kilkishen were drawn in group 2 with Sixmilebridge N.S. and Newmarket N.S. Kilkishen recorded a great opening victory against Sixmilebridge in match 1 and were defeated by eventual overall winners Newmarket N.S. in match 2. The girls can be very proud of their efforts and we look forward to competing in the Cumann na mBunscol competition later this term. Kilkishen boys took part in the I.N.T.O. mini 7's finals day held at Sixmilebridge on Friday April 21. Six schools had qualified after phase one and Kilkishen were drawn in group 2 with Inagh N.S. and Gael Scoil Inis. Kilkishen recorded a great opening victory against Inagh in match 1 and were defeated by eventual overall winners Gael Scoil Inis in match 2.The boys can be very proud of their efforts and we look forward to competing in the Cumann na mBunscol competition later this term. 4th and 5th Class really enjoyed the third lesson in our STEAM programme. This lesson was about Nature and Climate Change. The children were introduced to the effects of Climate Change on the natural world including habitat and biodiversity loss and population decline in certain species. We explored what nature gives humans and our dependence on nature to survive. The children also created artistic habitats and animals using playdoh. Have a look at their creations below. Pupils in 6th class received a graduation hoodie from the Parents Association Committee and School Board of Management. The graduation gifts were presented at the beginning of term 3 with 6th class pupils permitted to wear these as part of their school uniform. Pupils were delighted with these gifts and expressed their appreciation to the PAC and Board of Management. The Senior School Soccer League Cup and Shield finals were held on Tuesday April 18. Dennis Hynes, FAI Schools Soccer Coach, was present to officiate both finals and make the after match presentations. A thrilling Shield Final needed a penalty shoot-out to separate the teams with Argentina edging Germany by one goal in the shoot-out. Alice Horan was the hero scoring the winning penalty having made a crucial last minute save in normal time. The Cup final was won by Ireland defeating a brave Spanish side on a 3-0 score line. Team captain Colin Greaves lifted the Cup on behalf of the victorious team. Individual awards were also presented following the Cup Final with Ruairí Frost and Alan Neville sharing the top goal scorer award with 10 goals each. Colin Greaves and Jane Hogan were awarded the Players of the Tournament. The Golden Glove award was won by Hudson Donovan. Congratulations to Ireland and well done to all 48 players and teams that took part. |
