A fantastic end to the School hurling and camogie league was played out on Wednesday December 21. Wexford were crowned Shield winners with Kilkenny edging a great Cup final against a galant Dublin side. Player of the Match awards were presented to Tracey Tuohy in the Shield final and Clodagh O'Hagan in the cup final. Top scorer of the tournament was won by Darragh Doonovan with Player of the Tournament awarded to Ruairí Frost. The final award presented was the Fair Play Award desevedly going to the winning captain Jane Hogan. Congratulations to all our players and we look forward to another great season 2023.

Please find enclosed a link to the 2nd and 3rd class Christmas peformance. The children put their hearts and souls into this performance and we are so thrilled with how it turned out. The children showed some real dramatic and performance skills. Some students highlighted the musical ablity that is in my classroom by playing the concertina and tin whistle. A huge thank you to Mr. Aidan Keane who recorded the performance with his camera and was a huge help throughout. From myself Mr. Walsh and all the students we wish you all a very Happy Christmas and peaceful New Year.
The Junior classes performed their Christmas plays for our school and parents on Friday December 16 at Kilkishen church. The huge crowd in attendance were treated to fantastic performances of "My First Nativity" by Junior and Senior Infants, "Lights Camel Action" by 1st and 2nd and "Santa's Cookie Problem " by 2nd and 3rd class. Thank you to all teachers and staff for all their efforts preparing our Christmas plays and we look forward to our senior classes performing on Monday December 19. Pupils from 1st-6th classes travelled to Carrigoran House on Friday December 9 and performed for residents and staff. All pupils helped create a very festive atmosphere and entertained the residents with their wonderful Christmas songs. Thank you to Karina McCarthy and Patrica McMahon for the wonderful welcome and the opportunity to attend this year. We look forward to returning next year! Junior & Senior Infants have been busy in their classroom preparing for their Nativity Play. Inspired by the Nativity Story, the children created Jesus in a Manger art. The children were also learning about Advent & collaboratively made their own class Advent Wreath. Christmas cheer is in certainly in the air as Elfie the Elf came to visit us and brought a beautiful Christmas Tree with him! 🎄The children enjoyed drawing their own elves - take a peek below! 👀 The group stages of the School Winter and Camogie Leagues have now been completed and there was some fantastic action across all three rounds. The knockout matches have now been confirmed and will take place from Monday December 12. The Shield semi-finals see Clare v Galway and Limerick take on Wexford while the in the Cup semi-finals, Tipperary take on Dublin and Kilkenny play Cork. We look forward to more exciting games and finding out what teams progress to Finals Day on Wednesday December 21.
A wonderful crowd turned out for the turning on of the Christmas lights at Kilkishen church on Wednesday December 7. Our school choir performed for those in attendance and created a wonderful atmosphere before Fr. Donal Dwyer turned on the festive lights. A great community occasion to commence the Christmas period. Thank you to all our boys and girls that attended along with Ms. McNamara and Ms. Whitney. Pupils at Kilkishen N.S. were delighted to perform a series of Christmas carols for the Senior Citizens Christmas Lunch held at Kilkishen Cultural Centre on Sunday December 4. There was a great turnout at the event and a wonderful festive atmosphere was created by our great school choir led by Deirdre Maxted and prepared by Amy McNamara. Thank you to all that attended. Our choir will be supporting Kilkishen Development at the Christmas Lights ceremony on Wednesday evening December 7 at 7pm at Kilkishen church. We hope as many as possible will be in attendance.
