The boys and girls in Juniors, Seniors and First class participated in the Bog Walk this afternoon. All classes enjoyed the local trail, being 'at one with nature' and walking and talking with their friends in the sunshine. How lucky we are to avail of this local amenity! The students of Kilkishen National School celebrated national walk to school day by forming a walking train. The train departed from Nash's corner at 9.05 a.m. and arrived at its destination on time. The children loved W.O.W and due to its success the train will depart from Nash's corner every Wednesday at 9.05 a.m. until the end of term. What a pleasant afternoon of singing and listening to lovely music! Thanks to Edel and Ms. Fitzgerald for coordinating the school choir and also, a big thanks to our first class music enthusiast, Kate Neville who performed 'The Blue Danube Waltz' along with many more exerpts on Ms. Fitzgerald's keyboard today during choir practice. Thanks to Ms. Fitzgerald for giving Kate the opportunity to show off her musical skills on her keyboard. It was wonderful music to our ears! Well done Kate! The following students were selected by their class teachers for exceptional effort as the "Stars of the Week" last week. Each pupil tried their best, showed respect and completed their homework each day. Congratulations to all pupils that managed to be in the running for the awards in each class. Keep up the good work and watch out for this week's winners! The boys and girls of 3rd class were asked to do a report on different topics as part of the report writing genre. I was amazed at the quality of work that the students produced. Topics ranged from the G.A.A, Cheetahs, The World's Oceans, Space, Bears, Tigers and Antarctica. Meggie Zimmerman produced a real life sized cardboard cutout of a tiger as part of her report. I think the tiger will become a new student in my class and will have to be named.
The boys and girls in the junior classes were learning the step-by-step procedure of how to make Rice Krispie buns today. A special thanks to Caroline for helping us to make the delicious Friday treats! Yum!!
