A huge well done to Ruby Horan, Joe Madden, Abbie Fleming and Hayley McMahon who took part in the Comórtas Amhránaíochta at Féile na hInse in the Auburn Lodge on Tuesday 10th March. Congratulations to Abbie Fleming in rang 4 who took home the silver medal, well done Abbie, a great achievement. Congratulations to 4th class pupils Ruby Horan and Amy Neville who took home two bronze medals in the Comórtas Ealaíne. Well done girls, keep up the great work. Tá comhghairdeas tuillte ag gach duine. 1st and 2nd Class have been busy doing project work and research on the Continents of the World. Each group presented their project to an audience. Children from Ms. McNamara's class performed their drama and songs for us in preparation for the Féile na hInse competition. Kate Neville presented her stories to us that she had created with Ms. O'Shea and she also presented her project about waves that she had been working on with Ms. Perry.

Students from fourth and fifth class took part in Féile na hInse Monday 9th March to celebrate Seachtain na Gaeilge. The festival provides great opportunities for children to use their Irish outside the classroom in fun and creative ways. The children worked extremely hard preparing for the competitions and all the children who took part can be very proud of themselves for great performances and representing the school so well. Congratulations to 5th class pupils Ellie Frost and Lily Boyce who took 1st place in the Comórtas Agallamh Beirte and to Robyn Kavanagh and Abbie Fleming who took 2nd place in the fourth class competition, a great achievement girls, maith sibh! The following students were selected by their class teachers for exceptional effort as the "Stars of the Week" last week. Each pupil tried their best, showed respect and completed their homework each day. Congratulations to all pupils that managed to be in the running for the awards in each class. Keep up the good work and watch out for this week's winners! The Parents Association with the support of the school Board of Management are funding a 10 week programme of Mindfullness and Wellbeing with 5th and 6th class pupils. Sonia Millar,qualified Mindfullness coach, is running the programme that started on Wednesday February 26. The pupils are learning strategies and techniques to deal with various emotions and situations which they may encounter throughout their lives. The pupils have completed 2 lessons thus far and are really enjoying the class. World Book Day was celebrated at Kilkishen N.S. today March 5 where pupils were invited to dress-up as a character from a book that they had read. There were amazing costumes on display with a huge variety of costumes and characters chosen. All pupils will have received a World Book Day voucher enabling pupils to purchase a book during March with €1.50 off the marked price. Pupils will return to school on Tuesday September 1. All school holidays and closures are available to view on the calendar attached. Ten 6th class girls took part in the Marion Keane Memorial Basketball blitz for primary schools on Friday February 28 at Gurteen Sports Hall. The Kilkishen girls took on Bridgetown, Tulla and Kilmurry on the day. There were great performers in all three games with Kilkishen girls recording a victory over Kilmurry and narrowly beaten by Tulla and Bridgetown. Well done to everyone that took part. |
