For all the upcoming announcements read the December Newsletter. Four pupils from Kilkishen N.S. will take part in trials for the U/11 and U/13 mixed Clare Primary Handball team. Trials take place in Tulla Handball Alley this Monday and Tuesday at 6 pm. Best of luck to Alex and Claire trying out for the U/11 team and to Aoife and Lilly on Tuesday night as they try to make the U/13 team. Thank you to club coach Christy Philpott and parents for their help selecting our pupils in club trials over the weekend.
The following students were selected by their class teachers for exceptional effort as the "Stars of the Week" last week. Each pupil tried their best, showed respect and completed their homework each day. Congratulations to all pupils that managed to be in the running for the awards in each class. Keep up the good work and watch out for this week's winners! The students of 2nd and 3rd class learned all about Thanksgiving today. We used google earth to visit famous landmarks in the United States of America we even visited the White House.
Third Class were the overall winners of the Cash for Clobber donation competition ran by the Parents Association. The whole school managed to donate over 1000kg which will raise almost €600 for the school. Third class received some treats and a homework off pass each for donating the most bags. Thank you to everyone that supported this fundraiser.
Thank you to the Parents Association and Rachel from Tesco for the very generous donation of €499.84 to Kilkishen N.S. Pupils are pictured with a cheque from Tesco that was delivered to the school. Kilkishen N.S. was part of the Blue Token fundraiser at Tesco's Coonagh and Corbally Limerick.

Keep up the good work and watch out for this week's winners! Students in 5th and 6th class have been celebrating Science Week by by undertaking a number of Design and Make challenges. One of the tasks involved pupils designing and making a rollercoaster using only a marble, cardboard, tape and scissors. Pupils had to move a marble from their desk to the floor using only these materials. There were some very innovative constructions made. Have a look below. Congratulations to Colin Greaves on finishing 7th in the U/8 Boys Clare Cross Country finals that took place at Lee's Road on Wednesday November 15. Colin had qualified for the Clare finals after a great run in the East Clare schools event held in September. Well done Colin! There will be a coding open day on Saturday November 17 from 1-3pm at Kilkishen N.S. in association with the Kilkishen Parents Association. Learn how to make computer games, design a website and much more. If you would like your child to attend please contact Mark Murphy on 089 4819196. Kilkishen camogie girls competed in the St. Flannan's Super 8's hurling and camogie tournament on Wednesday. With over 26 schools competing the girls did very well making the Cup semi finals with victories over Barefiled N.S., Ruan N.S. and Ballyea N.S. Aoife Frost, Lilly Kavanagh, Keelin Moroney impressed throughout. Well done to all involved. Pupils were invited to fill a shoebox with gifts for the Team Hope Christmas Shoebox Appeal that delivers presents to children in Eastern Europe and Africa. There was a fantastic response from Kilkishen N.S. and thank you to everyone for supporting this very worthwhile campaign. Boxes were delivered from Kilkishen N.S. to one of the collection points in Ennis on Thursday by Mr. Walsh. The Rapunzel Foundation is a charitable organisation that works to improve the lives of those living with hair loss through fund-raising as well as through hair-raising. Hair is raised through the Rapunzel Foundation’s Ponytail Campaign, where people commit to growing their hair with the view to their hair being sent to help make much needed wigs to improve the lives of those living with the hair loss. Kilkishen N.S. pupil Kahlan Kennedy recently donated to the Ponytail Campaign. We are all very proud of Kahlan and her lovely act of kindness. The students of 2nd and 3rd class had a very special guest today to tell us all about the festival of Diwali. Diwali is the celebration of light over darkness. Martin visited our class to tell us all about India and how important the festival is in the country. The boys and girls loved to learn new facts and information about another country and culture.
