Congratulations to our Student of the Week award winners in Ms. McNamara's, Mr. Walsh's and Ms. Fawl's classrooms. Pupils are selected for Trying Their Best, Showing Respect and Completing Their School and Homework. Each student receives a Student of the Week certificate and has their photograph published on the school website. Well done to all and best of luck everyone to be chosen as next week's winners Congratulations to our weekly Accelerated Reader Award winners for last week. Keep up the great work everyone and we look forward to adding more names to our Reading Millionaire's Club in the near future. 4th and 5th Class continued to celebrate World Book Day today by dressing up as their favourite book character. They wrote character descriptions and attached a photo of themselves to their worksheet. We also undertook a fun 'Where's Wally' search around the school. Congratulations to Kahlan, Gemma, Darragh, Alice, Olivia, Filip and Cillian who all found Wally! They were awarded with a certificate and a homework pass. The Green-Schools Committee are leading Kilkishen National School's involvement in this citizen-science initiative by investigating the quality of air around our school. The Globe Campaign provides students with the opportunity to participate in citizen-science and contribute meaningfully to our understanding of the global environment. Globe is an international Environmental and Science Education program that is sponsored by NASA in the USA and we are honoured to have been chosen to take part in this initiative. We will measure nitrogen dioxide (NO2) - a principal pollutant from car emissions - at three different locations around our school and the local area. We can't wait to analyse the results in a month's time. We hope that our levels of NO2 will be below the WHO's recommended level of 10. The boys and girls in 2nd and 3rd class celebrated World Book Day today. Students dressed up as their favourite characters and also discussed their favourite books.
