Fáilte Garden Party at Áras an UachtaráinEach year, President and Sabina Higgins host a series of Garden Parties, to give recognition to, and celebrate the work of, people and organisations who have been active in promoting and building citizenship and community – projects that are central to the Presidency of Michael D. Higgins. This year’s Garden Parties will cover a range of themes, including the Arts, sustainability, gender equality, multiculturalism and community.
Our own Martin Bon has been invited, along with his family, to attend the Fáilte Garden Party on Monday 3 July. This is a huge honour as only a small number of kids from across the country have been invited. The Garden Party is a 'Welcome' party for new Irish citizens and the President has extended it to children from inter-country adoption. Martin, along with two other children, will represent the Indian group. There will be other children attending who will represent other countries. This is such an exciting and special occasion for Martin and his family and they will no doubt have a wonderful time. We have been learning about President Michael D. Higgins today and watching videos documenting his life and career. We are all thrilled for Martin and we wish him the very best. It is clear to see he is bursting with excitement and he has a genuine interest in Michael D. which I'm sure the President will recognize and appreciate when he meets him. We are looking forward to seeing photographs and hearing all about the party when we return to school in September. Click on this link to watch a video about President Michael D.
