The children in Kilkishen N.S. are beating the January blues by keeping active! Children love exploring different movements from the various activities provided by www.gonoodle.com - it is the ideal brain-break to get the children going in the morning! Mr Walsh's Active School Initiative-Super Troopers' Active Homework Journal is taking effect encouraging all pupils in our school to stay fit and healthy at home as well as at school! Who knew homework could be so much fun?! Operation Transformation's '10@10' video movement breaks which are available on www.rtejr.rte.ie are enjoyable and help children to re-energise and refocus and keep motivated in the classroom! The children are also developing ball-handling skills during basketball class facilitated by Martina and Richard. And if you thought we couldn't get any more active as a whole school, the boys and girls from 3rd - 6th are busy with swimming lessons while the junior end of the school partake in running, jumping and throwing activities and games during hurling sessions which are led by coaches Jimmy Meagher and Jake Ryan. "Eat Smart, More More" is a guide booklet for more information on Healthy Eating and Getting Active which is accessible on www.getirelandactive.ie We are firm believers in keeping active, promoting physical activity and maintaining a healthy balanced lifestyle in our school!
