4th, 5th and 6th Class had a wonderful school tour last Wednesday in Tralee. Firstly, they enjoyed an educational tour around Crag Cave. This was followed by lunch in the park and free time to burn off their energy in the playground. After that, they swam and splashed about in the Aqua Dome, enjoying the slides, lazy river and waves. Finally, they had a delicious meal in the Aqua Dome before heading home on the bus. A great day was had by all.

With much anticipation and excitement, the children from Juniors to 1st class headed off on tour yesterday. A wonderful day was had by all, and you can see a few snapshots of the fun in the below video.
Junior and Senior Infants have recently been learning about the Lifecycle of a Butterfly. We learned that butterflies lay their eggs on a leaf and subsequently grow into caterpillars. We wanted to see the process after this stage for ourselves, so we ordered five live caterpillars and they have been living in our classroom for almost five weeks now! They started their lives as tiny creatures in a jar with brown food and grew into thick black and green caterpillars. From this, they attached themselves to the roof of the jar and formed into a chrysalis! After a few days, we transferred the cocoons to the butterfly habitat, where they stayed for almost two weeks. This week, we finally saw the transformation we had all been waiting for… Our butterflies had come to life! We gave them some sugary syrup and sliced apples to eat. Some of the children showed our butterfly habitat to the other classes and they had so much fun explaining the process! In a few days, we will release our butterflies into the wild so that the lifecycle can start again! The children loved watching this amazing transformation and it’s something they will never forget! 6th class pupil, Sophie McArthur, received a Certificate of Commendation for her entry in this year's Texaco Children's Art Competition. Sophie's entry has been selected to go forward to the final stages of judging from over 20,000 entries nationwide. All entries selected for judging will be reviewed by a 6 member judging committee with winners to be announced later this year. Congratulations top Sophie on being selected to the final stages of judging.
Congratulations to our Pupil of the Week award winners. Each week pupils are asked to remember 3 important rules: 1. Show Respect 2. Do Your Best and 3. Complete Homework. In each classroom pupils that manage to demonstrate these on a daily basis are in the running for special weekly awards announced every Monday. Well done to all our award winners from Ms. Fawl, Ms. Whitney, Mr. Keane and Mr. Walsh's classes. Best of luck to everyone this week.
