Kilkishen school debating team competed in the Clare Schools Primary Debating quarter-final today at Kilkishen Cultural Centre. The Kilkishen team were proposing the motion "All families should have pets." The team was superbly led by team captain Eadaoin Moroney. Eadaoin opened the debate with compelling arguments detailing why all families should have pets. Next, main speakers, Aoife Frost and Keelin Moroney, delivered excellent arguments supporting the motion. In the cross-fire round, Finn Bliss, Myra Donnellan, and Seán Ryan argued and debated points made by the opposing team. The standard of the debate was exceptionally high and the Kilkishen team gave one of the best displays from any debating team representing the school ever. However, only one team could progress to make the semi-finals, and adjudicator Antoinette Barry sided with the Ogonelloe team by the slightest of margins on the day. The team can be very proud of their efforts and of how they represented the school with distinction. A huge thank you to Ms. O'Shea for her help preparing the team and to the boys and girls for giving their all in the event. Well done everyone! Comments are closed.
