Over the last 24 years, World Book Day has become firmly established as Ireland’s biggest annual event promoting the enjoyment of books and reading.
4th and 5th Class were delighted to celebrate this special day together remotely. We watched the author Derek Landy explain how to make characters feel real in his Academy Lesson. The children were then challenged to create their own unique characters and to write a character description. The children also brought along their favourite books and gave book reviews. Some of the pupils dressed up as their favourite book character which added a really fun element to the lesson. Niamh dressed up as Hermione from the Harry Potter series who she describes as 'smart, direct and confident.' She also spoke about her favourite book 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban'. Olivia dressed up as Nikki J Maxwell from the Dork Diaries Skating Sensation. She even had the 'skates' as part of her costume and gave a brilliant review highly recommending the book. Sara dressed up as Veruca Salt from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. She put in an incredible effort, even having props such as a lollipop and candy canes. She remarked that she likes that justice prevails and quoted the line 'What goes up, must come down'. Thank you for your fabulous efforts girls. Comments are closed.
